SINTRA – A history about Arabs, crusaders, monks, noblemen and royalties
Sintra is a small villager with a rare history. “ The Pena Palace” (see the picture), “The National Palace”, “The Regaleira Palace”, The Seteis Palace”, “ The Round chapel St Mamede”, “St Mary’s Church”, “ Colares Private Church”, “St Anthony’s Church”, “Capuche’s Monastery” and “St Peter of Penaferrim Church” are all situated here.
The dramatic mountains, the beautiful architecture and the luxuriant vegetation make this to a very attractive village. Until now this has been the reason why the elite of the country always chosen Sintra as a vacation and permanent residence. The closeness to the sea (which always been important in the history of Portugal) and to Lisbon make this area to a place that always been very significant in the Portuguese history for many reasons.
