Barcelona – Europe’s most popular city
Barcelona has during the last years become one of the most popular cities in Europe, and it is not without reason. The city arranged summer -Olympic Games in 1992, and in connection with this, large parts of the city got renovated. The capital of Catalonia is traditional and modern at the same time and in many ways both the cultural and spiritual centre of Spain.
Gaudí, Miró, Picasso, Tapies; they all lived in this fantastic city and today they have their own museums. In principle Gaudí do not has his own museum, but on the other side he don’t need it, since his work is visible all over the city. For example we can mention Parc Güell, La Sagrada familia, Casa Batlló and Casa La Pedrera “The Stone quarry” (at Passeig de Gracia). You don’t need to be an art expert or very interested in architecture to be impressed by the originality in his work.
Barcelona is also the home for the football team FC Barcelona. The team has its home arena, Nou Camp, which is the biggest stadium of Europe. If neither the football or the culture seize you interest, you can always go on a shopping tour in the area around old town (Barri Gotic), Passeig de Gracia, at the big avenue Diagonal or take use of the fascinated evening- and night life.
